Don’t make Kyle angry. You wouldn’t like Kyle when he’s angry.
And, apparently, he’s pretty friggin’ angry right now.
Currently, Tropical Storm Kyle is making itself different from Hanna and Ike in that it could hit the East Coast primarily. As the possible eleventh major storm to hit the United States this hurricane season, Tropical Storm or Hurricane Kyle could cause major storms for the East Coast this weekend. But Tropical Storm Kyle comes at the worst time for baseball, in particular.
It took five months, but Kyle finally gets his revenge on the Red Sox – and MLB – for dfa’ing him.
Do NOT mess with Kyle. He will fuck your shit up.
I’ve been invited to Saturday’s game…if it actually happens. (If not, I see many beers and maybe a cheeseburger in my future.) I have a thin, thread of hope that the Rays get swept this weekend, the Sox sweep and win the division. But hell, if the Rays win tonight, Kyle could rain out the rest of the weekend and I really wouldn’t be too broken-hearted. I’m at the point where I want a rested team heading into the playoffs. So let the chips fall where they will.
(Edited to add: Yes, I’m so desperate for Kyle Snyder news that I used the storm to get a mention in. That’s how I roll.

I have a hard time believing they’ll get tonight’s game in, and Kyle indeed seems poised to wreak havoc on Saturday. There’s a small part of me that hopes Tampa does clinch tonight so that there isn’t a premium on making up all the games. I can’t imagine they wouldn’t find a way to play two*, if only for the revenue, but it would be nice not to have a major crunch on the bullpen and the injured guys all in pursuit of a goal that would be very difficult to attain.
* I’m getting a headache just thinking of which two it would be, and how! Doubleheader on Sunday? Postpone a game to Monday?
I said a similar thing about Tampa this morning, Kelly. If they win tonight, Kyle could give the Sox a chance to rest up for the Angels.
See, he really DOES have a good heart!
They have to get in at least one game this weekend so they can have the ceremony for Johnny Pesky to retire his number.
It was pointed out on SoSH that if they Sox get two games in, they surpass 3 million for the year in attendance for the first time. That makes me entirely certain they find a way to get at least two games in.
Brenken, it seems that if tonight’s game is rained out they’ll do the Pesky ceremony Sunday, either at the Sunday game or possibly at a makeup game. They want it to be a non-FOX game so they can be sure the pregame can be televised. I don’t think there’s any question that they can get A game in on Sunday.
Oh I forgot about the attendance record. Does the game have to be an official game or can they just start it and call it for rain?
With Johnny, they can still do the ceremony without playing the game. Of course, it’ll be in the rain in front of soggy, cranky fans, but still…
I find it endearing that you use the phrase “Do NOT mess with Kyle” cos you know….he IS a native Texan
You realize that someday I’m going to meet Kyle and find the courage to ask him if he considers himself Texan. Then I’m going to tape his response, turn it into an mp3 file and email it to you.
“No. I’m from Florida.”
Cyn, it’s cracking me up to no end that after talking you into going to a couple of disappointing games in a row, the next one could possibly be erased from the record entirely.
Kelly, I’m really starting to believe it’s me.
