Welcome 2013!

Looking forward to seeing what Farrell can do with these guys in 2013 (Photo by Kelly O'Connor and used with permission)

While 2012 was a decent year for me personally, baseball-wise it was a God-awful train wreck that I want to forget about as soon as possible. The only way to do that, though, is for the 2013 season to begin. If the information on Boston.com is true, Tuesday, February 5th is Truck Day – in my mind the first day of the new season. (Also, if February 5th really is Truck Day it’ll be the first in five years that I won’t be able to attend.) So right now my focus is on getting to Truck Day.

I have a lot of plans for 2013. Not the least of which is getting back to updating the blog every day. Bobby Valentine and the 2012 team certainly took its toll on me and I have every hope that, at the very least, John Farrell will be able to restore some joy to the denizens of Fenway Park. That is my hope for baseball in 2013 – that we have fun again at the ballpark. Make it so, Mr. Farrell.

I hope this New Year finds everyone who visits here happy and well. I’d like to take this time to thank every one of you who makes my little part of the Internet a stop during your daily web surfing. It makes this a whole lot more fun knowing folks are actually reading it.

Happy New Year, Cyn. Thanks for the date of Truck Day; I always look forward to that and to the pictures. I’m happy about Farrell and certainly wish him well. We’ve everything to look forward to and there’s no need to look back. The whole year is ahead of us! Cheers!

Top of the New Year to ye and yourn, Cyn! We so love to read your voice! And hooray for Truck Day, and Pitchers and Catchers Report, and each of the sweet milestones of late February that enable us to soldier through the cold sporting abyss that yawns between the last Patriots game and the first sight of Sox infielders rotating to address a baserunner trying to steal (whom the well-armed David Ross shall obligingly shoot down). Especially this year–when we have such an icky lump of 2012 memory to stamp out on the baseball field, and Boston rooters’ customary February distractions, the Celts and Bruins, are offering, respectively, bad ball and no ball at all. (Internal rhymes making me a little seasick so I shall stop here :-) Onward to Truck Day!
